Who is Joel Ruby?
As a one-man-band videographer/editor at Joel Ruby Studios, I collaborate with digital marketing teams to record, edit, and distribute social video for a multitude of clients. I work closely with companies from all walks of life to identify their marketing needs, and execute video projects to drive customer engagement. I also identify video workflow and production techniques to distinguish video products from anything else on social media.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in New Media and Communications Technology from The Ohio State University, where I discovered my passion for filmmaking, photography, and new media art. I started my own video production business, Joel Ruby Studios, in 2017, and specialized in outdoor adventure filmmaking for three years, working with The Orvis Company in Vermont. I moved back to Chicago in 2020 to expand my business to include music videos, short films, documentaries, and hybrids thereof. I have award-winning skills in video editing, video production, and videography, and I hold a UAS Part 107 Drone Certification. I am always eager to learn new technologies and techniques, and create digital media that inspires, teaches, and entertains.
